12/10/2001 - No I'm not going to rant about the tense of what I'm writing again; however, I am going to attempt to force a few words out of this tired frame to entertain you while the image loads. At least, that's what I think the purpose of writing this is.
Many of you realize that there are three major players in the gaming industry right now. Here's my take on the issue: the gamecube is choice. Gamecube costs one-hundred dollars less for the system (PS2 $299, Xbox $299, Gamecube $199) in exchange for no DVD playback, that's a fair deal. All of the good games currently out on any of the other systems could eventually port to Gamecube, but not vice versa. Nintendo© holds the rights to the entire Zelda© series, anything with Mario©, and . Nintendo does have a reputation for dominating the market. (I really don't know when to use the © symbol, just assume it is where it should be from now on.) The Dave Mirra (too complex for me, but some like it) and Tony Hawk series are porting to Gamecube. The only game that Xbox has that Gamecube can not get is Halo. I do not think PS2 holds an edge, except being a year ahead of the rest of the market.
With at least two OUTSTANDING party/multiplayer games for the Gamecube, Super Monkey Ball and Super Smash Brothers Melee, this system is great for inviting friends over.
"Hey Cletus, what are you doing?"
"Nothin' much, why?"
"I was just wondering if you would want to come over and play with my Super Monkey Balls!"
"Would I!?"
My prediction: because the other systems have a head start, Nintendo won't ever again have 95% of the market. I predict it can take about 55% over the next year though. My purchase sure can't hurt =). (oh yeah, and if I'm just an idiot who doesn't know jack about video games, send me an email to tell me about it)
