What would you do on your birthday. Give blood? Sounds good to me! Starting last Thursday, I have comitted myself to donate blood every 56 days (or as close as possible) until I die. I have volunteered at the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center for the past year and a half, and have been anxious about being able to donate for a long time. Since I turned 17, old enough to donate blood, last thursday, what better way to spend my birthday than to donate blood after school? The process took ten minutes, was nearly painless (my cat hurts me more,) and (because I ate carbs before and after) I felt no dizziness whatsoever. It was a really good experience to visit the workers at the Red Cross I normally volunteer with and then suprise them by donating.
Ahh... crisp refreshing blood donation...
